Vinfast VF Wild
The VinFast Wild launched at CES has changed the automotive landscape for mid-sized pickups.
The objective for VinFast was to launch into the pickup truck market with a unique offering that would break the mould, and focus on sustainability.
The approach:
To have an impact for Vinfast, the Wild needed to stand out and give customers something that hadn't been done before – a non-traditional, versatile, lifestyle oriented EV pickup truck.
The challenge for Gomotiv was to deliver on these aesthetic requirements, whilst engineering the fundamental functional components without compromising occupant packaging or program timing.
Multiple design options were compared simultaneously in VR. This digital design process eliminated the slow clay process to rapidly speed up review and feedback with VinFast.
Inspired by the movement of a cape through the wind, the taught and expressive body styling is keyed into rugged chassis protection elements, further enhancing the rule of form following function.
The outcome:
With a goal of disrupting the segment, the Wild was launched with great success at CES, showcasing Vinfast’s commitment to automotive innovation. From sketch to running concept completed in under 12 months, GoMotiv’s close agile collaboration with Vinfast set new standards for delivering speed to market.
At the designs core lies the innovative folding midgate and extendable flatbed, with the ability to transform from a 5 to an 8-foot bed, it boasts the largest bed size in its class, catering to both utility and leisure activities. The cantilevered seats enhance interior space efficiency, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to comfort and ergonomics.
Furthermore, features like the panoramic glass roof and digital side mirrors not only elevate the vehicle's appeal and performance but also usher in a new era of sophistication.
Gomotiv’s successful partnership with VinFast has brought to life their vision for the VF Wild. A first for an an independent Australian design studio has been responsible for the design of a complete showcar and production vehicle on behalf of a global OEM.
